Gaza builds 1st post-war cement edifice
The first cement building built in the Gaza Strip since the December 2008-January 2009 war has been completed.
The locals held a ceremony to celebrate the occasion near the apartment complex in the Jabaliya neighborhood in the northern Gaza Strip, the Ma’an news agency reported on Tuesday.
The enclave has still not recovered from Israel’s December 2008-January 2009 artillery, aerial, and naval onslaught, which left more than 1,400 Gazans dead and inflicted damage exceeding $1.6 billion on its economy.
In his address at the event, Gaza Deputy Prime Minister Ziad Thatha said, “The government will defeat the siege through major accomplishments towards reconstruction of what the Zionist war machine has destroyed.”
