Israeli spy balloon flies over Lebanon
An Israeli surveillance balloon has entered Lebanon’s airspace in violation of the country’s sovereignty, according to the Lebanese army.
The army issued a statement on Friday, confirming that the surveillance balloon hovered over Baalbek and other Lebanese regions.
Earlier in the day, an Israeli reconnaissance plane also reportedly violated Lebanon’s airspace.
The aircraft, which entered Lebanese airspace over the southern border town of Naqoura, proceeded to fly over eastern Lebanon and the capital Beirut.
The United Nations considers Israeli violations of Lebanese airspace breaches of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which brought an end to the Israeli offensive against Lebanon in 2006.
