Foreign Ministers of Venezuela, Pakistan, Belarus and Malaysia Stress Support to Syria
Syrian Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem on Wednesday met his counterparts of Venezuela, Pakistan, Belarus and Malaysia, concluding his meetings at the sidelines of the 66th session of the UN General Assembly held in New York.
Al-Moallem briefed his counterparts on the current developments in Syria including those related to the ongoing reform steps led by President Bashar al-Assad and the national dialogue conference due to be held soon in Damascus.
He highlighted the Syrian State’s duty to confront the armed groups for the protection of the citizens’ security, as well as the leadership’s determination to implement the reform program during the coming months.
Venezuela’s Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro Moros expressed his country’s full support to Syria and standing by it under the circumstances it goes through, wishing it stability.
Moros condemned the criminal campaign Syria has been subjected to due to its stances against the American and Western attempts to impose hegemony on the region, stressing rejection of the Western sanctions and the media war launched against Syria.
Foreign Minister of Pakistan Hina Rabbani Khar affirmed rejection of foreign interference in other countries’ affairs and the need to respect the countries’ right to solve their own internal problems.
She also reiterated Pakistan’s support to Syria’s sovereignty and safety to be able to pursue its important role in the region.
Foreign Minister Sergey Martinov of Belarus, for his part, asserted his country’s full support to Syria, expressing his confidence in President al-Assad’s wisdom and the Syrian leadership’s ability to carry out reforms and preserve Syria’s security and stability.
He said his country is determined to implement what was agreed upon during President al-Assad’s latest visit to Belarus.
Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato Sri Anifa Aman condemned the campaigns launched against Syria, stressing his country’s keenness on the security and stability of Syria and continuing to build firm relations with it in the various fields.
