Al-Azhar Calls for “Killing, Crucifixion of ISIL Terrorists”

4 February 2015 13:22

Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, the highest religious institution in Egypt, called on Tuesday for the killing and crucifixion of militants from the so-called ‘Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’ (ISIL) terrorist group, expressing outrage over their murder of the kidnapped Jordanian pilot, Maath Al-Kasaseba.

Al-Azhar top cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, denounced the announcement of ISIL about burning the Jordanian pilot Maaz al-Kassasbeh alive on Tuesday, describing in a statement the act as “villainous terrorist act,” calling for the killing, crucifixion and chopping of the limbs of the takfiri group terrorists.

Al-Azhar cleric said ISIL is a “satanic organization”, underlining that “this villainous act requires the punishment cited in Surat Al-Araf of the holy Quran, i.e. terrorists must be “killed or crucified, or their hands and feet must be cut off on opposite sides.”

On Tuesday evening, ISIL broadcast a video showing the pilot being burned alive while he was jailed in an iron cage.
