Anti-BBC rally held in London
A protest rally has been held outside the BBC building in central London to condemn the broadcaster’s discriminatory coverage of events related to Muslims.
The protest was organized by Stand up to Racism, a movement supported by Unite Against Fascism (UAF) and Muslim Engagement & Development (MEND). The protesters said BBC’s coverage of the three American Muslims on Tuesday was minimal and tantamount to silence in comparison to the corporation’s reporting on the Paris attacks last month.
The American Muslim students were killed in a shooting incident in North Carolina. The incident happened in an apartment near the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill campus. The victims are Deah Shaddy Barakat, his wife Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, and her sister Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha. Police arrested the shooter, identified as Craig Stephen Hicks.
