Haneyya: The resistance is much stronger than in the last war
Deputy head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya said that the Palestinian resistance spearheaded by al-Qassam Brigades became much stronger than it was in the last war, affirming its armed struggle is only aimed at the Israeli occupation.
Haneyya made the remarks on Sunday during his visit to homes of martyrs and ex-detainees in Rafah area, south of the Gaza Strip.
The senior Hamas official stated that the resistance is ready for any battle and its military preparations have become stronger and better than before, stressing that his Movement neither seek nor fear a new Israeli war against the Palestinian people.
Haneyya also pointed out that the armed wing of Hamas possesses strategic weapons and equipment capable of surprising the Israeli occupation in any future battle.
He underlined, in another context, that the Movement and its armed wing are not involved in any kind of military or security activities inside the Egyptian territory, and wish to see Egypt strong and stable.
He stressed that his Movement condemns the blockade imposed by Egypt on Gaza and its buffer zone in Rafah, but it does not see the Egyptian army as an enemy and can never direct its weapons against it.
