ISIL suffered a significant setback in the Al-Qamishli District of the Al-Hasakah Governorate, losing 21 villages in the south after fierce clashes with the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), Suturo (Assyrian militia) and National Defense Forces (NDF).

Following the loss of these villages, ISIL was forced to retreat further east, where the Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) launched a number of airstrikes on the former’s positions in Al-Shadadi.

The predominately Kurdish “People’s Protection Units” (YPG) – in cooperation with Assyrian militias from the Syriac Military Council (SMC) – repelled an ISIL attack on the western perimeter of Tal Tamer; this resulted in the enemy combatants retreating north along the Khabour River.
