The violence that is engulfing the city of Aleppo has taken a toll on the civilian population, as the last 48 hours have been nothing short of gory and inhuman for the people living within its borders.
Not only are Aleppo’s residents experiencing an influx of violence, but the absence of water and electricity has further added to the plight of civilians caught between the frontlines of this brutal war for control of this once thriving economic hub in northern Syria.
Firefights between the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the militants from Jabhat Al-Shamiyah (Levantine Front) continued in the Old Aleppo Quarter, where the latter attempted to breakthrough the final checkpoint to the Aleppo Citadel; however, the SAA was able to maintain control and counter the militants.
According to a military source, other areas experiencing fierce clashes were the Sayed ‘Ali, Maysaloun, Al-Hamidiyeh and Jadaydeh neighborhoods of Aleppo City, with no side gaining the upper-hand, despite non-stop fighting.
Meanwhile, at Al-Wadiha in southern Aleppo, the SAA was able to finally breach the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra’s” defenses at this village, taking control of the western sector before nightfall.
The National Defense Forces (NDF) and SAA have regained full-control of the Azzan Mountains after two weeks of intense fighting with the militants from Harakat ‘Ahrar Al-Sham in southern Aleppo.
Also in southern Aleppo, the SAA was able to finally capture the Poultry Farms located west of Khan Touman after three months of a back-and-forth battle with Harakat ‘Ahrar Al-Sham.
In northern Aleppo, the SAA has regained full-control over the village of Al-Manasheer near the Al-Ouweja District, advancing towards the Sawmills in the Al-Breijj District.
Jabhat Al-Nusra attempted a counter-attack at the NDF-controled hill of Tal Al-Madafa, attacking from their positions at Tal Maqla – fighting is still ongoing.
The Palestinian militia “Liwaa Al-Quds” repelled a Jabhat Al-Nusra infiltration attempt into the Nayrab Refugee Camp in southern part of Aleppo, leading to as many as two dozen militants killed.
