Syrian Army Tiger Forces on the Fringes of Idlib City
The Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces” – in cooperation with the 11th Tank Division and the National Defense Forces (NDF) – has infiltrated the frontline defenses of the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” in the village of Qameenas after fierce clashes at the southwestern axis over the last two days.
Following their capture of the southwestern entrance into Qameenas, the Tiger Forces and their allies continued their progression towards Idlib City, pushing their way towards the northern sector of the village before nightfall on Monday.
As 0f Monday, the Tiger Forces and their allies are within striking distance of the Tile Factory in the Industrial Zone of Idlib City; this will likely be their entrance into the provincial capital if they are able to recapture the village of Qameenas and nearby checkpoints.
For Jabhat Al-Nusra and Harakat ‘Ahrar Al-Sham, their failure to maintain their momentum at Al-Mastouma has allowed for a resurgence in the Syrian Armed Forces in the Idlib Governorate.
According to a military source in Latakia, the Syrian Air Force Intelligence intercepted communications between Jabhat Al-Nusra commanders expressing significant panic over the crumbling defenses in Qameenas – the source also added that the commanders expressed the need for reinforcements to forestall the Tiger Forces progression.
Meanwhile, fierce clashes were reported at the village of Koreen in the Al-Zawiyah Mountains, where the SAA and Jabhat Al-Nusra continue their tug-of-war battle for control of this area in western Idlib.
The Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) launched a total of 51 airstrikes in the Idlib Governorate on Monday, targeting the cities of Sirmeen, Kafr Laha, Khan Sheikhoun, Binnish, Saraqib, Ma’arat Al-Nu’man, Koreen, Idlib City, Kafr Nabl, and Al-Hamidiyeh.
