The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorists have retreated from the Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp in Damascus countries, informed military sources announced on Monday.
“The ISIL has been forced to withdraw towards al-Hajar al-Aswad region as the Syrian government increased its pressures on the terrorist group to end its attacks on the Palestinian civilians residing in the camp,” an informed military source told FNA on Monday.

The ISIL has taken out many terrorists from Yarmouk refugee camp as the Syrian army and the Palestinian forces increased their pressures on the Takfiri terrorists.

The ISIL had called 3,000 terrorists in to take control of Yarmouk camp, but the Syrian troops repelled the attack with the support of Fath al-Intifada movement which controls most parts of the camp.

Once home to some 160,000 Palestinian and some Syrian residents, Yarmouk’s population had shrunk to just 18,000 by the time ISIL entered the camp.

According to Palestinian sources, some 2,500 civilians have managed to escape the camp, but aid agencies and the United Nations have warned of a serious humanitarian crisis and urged all parties to allow the creation of a humanitarian corridor.

ISIL Takfiri militants were now confined largely to the Southwest of the camp, with Palestinian factions controlling most of the East and North of the camp, Palestinian sources said.

Syria has been the scene of insurgency since 2011, when certain western powers and their regional allies voiced loudly that Syrian protests have no diplomatic solution and they started supplying the country’s opposition groups with their arms and funds.

Since 2014, specially after victory of President Bashar al-Assad in the country’s presidential election in summer, the army has gained upper hand in its anti-terrorism campaign, and has been partly successful in sealing borders with Turkey and Jordan.
