Syrian Army Captures Al-Safsafiyah in the Al-Ghaab Plains
The Syrian Arab Army’s 106th Brigade from the Republican Guard – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF)- has reportedly captured the village of Al-Safsafiyah after fierce clashes with the Syrian Al-Qaeda group Al-Nusra in the Al-Ghaab Plains of the Hama Governorate.
According to a military source, the Republican Guard and NDF were able to take control of Al-Safsafiyah after breaking through Jabhat Al-Nusra’s defenses and killing a confirmed 16 enemy combatants; this village is located 3 km east of the besieged town of Mansoura.
South of Safsafiyah, the 106th Brigade and NDF repelled a Jabhat Al-Nusra infiltration attempt into the strategic village of Joreen, which is vitally located on the western outskirts of the Al-Ghaab Plains and a half kilometer from the Syrian Government’s final supply route to the province.
In the southern part of the Al-Ghaab Plains, the SAA’s 106th Brigade engaged a large contingent from Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham at Ash-Shariah, where both parties ended up in an intense firefight from 9 A.M. to 10:30 P.M. on Wednesday.
