Sunni cleric stresses Islamic unity as number one priority
A senior Sunni cleric attending the ceremony to tribute thesis on Islamic unity in the holy city of Mashhad highlighted Islamic solidarity as number one priority for the world of Islam.
Second ceremony to mark the university thesis on the theme of Islamic unity has been held in the Iranian holy city of Mashhad participated by prominent Shia Sunni scholars including Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, advisor of the Supreme Leader in the Muslim world affairs, Grand Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, Secretary General of the World forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, Mamusta Khodaee, member of the Supreme Council at the world Forum and also Ayatollah Soleimani, member of the Supreme Council at the world Forum and prayer leader of Zahedan, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
Molavi Es’hagh Madani, a Sunni member of the Supreme Council at the world Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, in his speech said,” Today there is nothing as important as Islamic unity for the world of Islam.”
He added,” Up to few years ago we only called the people to maintain Islamic unity while now we are in demand of something beyond that.”
Sunni cleric also referred to the spread of extremism in the world of Islam and added,” The main reason for extremism in the world of Islam is not that extremists want something more than Islam rather it is their misunderstanding of Islam.”
