The Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah has celebrated the 15th anniversary of its victory against Israel, Press TV reports.

The event, which was held in the southern town of Nabatiyeh on Sunday, marked the liberation of most of southern Lebanon from Israeli occupation fifteen years ago.

The highlight of the event was a televised address by the movement’s Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah who pointed to the significant developments in the Middle East region, including the fight against Takfiri terrorists.

Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah delivers a televised speech during a ceremony on May 24 marking the fifteenth anniversary of the Resistance and Liberation Day in the southern town of Nabatiyeh.

“We call for a unified front to face the Takfiri threat, which is unparalleled in history. We’re fighting alongside the Syrian Army and popular resistance based on our vision that fighting there is aimed at defending everyone in Syria, Lebanon, Palestine and Iraq,” Nasrallah said in his address.

Hezbollah forced the Israeli military out of the southern parts of Lebanon on May 25, 2000, after more than two decades of occupation. The resistance movement has said it holds firm against Israel and Takfiri terrorists.

Speaking to Press TV, the Syrian ambassador to Lebanon also said that victories achieved against the Takfiris in Syria match the victory against Israel.

“The liberation of south Lebanon was the initiation of the road to retrieving pride and dignity and what the resistance is committed to in the region is the manifestation of the true meaning of liberation. Both enemies, the Israeli and Takfiris complement each other and victory will no doubt be ours,” said Ali Abdel-Karim Ali.

People in Lebanon consider May 25 as a beginning of dramatic change in the region.

The Lebanese commemorate the day as a national holiday and see it as a transformation that changed the regional equations for good, and put an end to the invincibility myth of the Israeli military.
