93 militants killed in two days of Afghan army operations
Afghan security forces have killed over 90 militants during military operations in 12 provinces within the past two days, the country’s Defense Ministry says.
Afghanistan’s Defense Ministry spokesman General Zahir Azimi said on Saturday that at least nine army soldiers also lost their lives in the anti-terror operations.
“Over the past 48 hours, 93 militants have been killed and seven arrested in 12 provinces while nine army soldiers died as a result of clashes and bomb explosions,” he said on his twitter account.
On Friday, an Afghan official said that separate army operations in the northern province of Baghlan came to end, leaving nearly 80 militants dead.
General Ghulam Farooq Ahmadi, a regional corps commander, said at least 79 militants were killed, 92 wounded and 25 others arrested during the operations that were carried out in Baghlan alone.
