8 July 2015 8:17

Hezbollah and the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division steadily advanced deep into the heart of Al-Zabadani after spending the last few days on the fringes of this resort-city in the Western Mountains of Syria.

Following their entrance into the city, the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah began their infiltration into the northwestern sector of the city, capturing numerous buildings, while advancing on the strategic locations under the control of the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and Liwaa Suqour Al-Zabadani.

With fear growing amongst the Islamist rebel forces, Jabhat Al-Nusra and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) have threatened to cutoff the water supply to nation’s capital if the Syrian Armed Forces continue their offensive at Al-Zabadani.

Unabated by these otiose threats, the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah have advanced further into the Al-Zahra neighborhood, where they have taken control of most of the enemy’s positions after a number of clashes.

The Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah fighters were able to impose full-control over the Al-Sultani neighborhood, while members of the 63rd Brigade launched operations at the Al-Ghafran Mosque and the several roads around the city-center. began.

Although they have bombarded the Jabhat Al-Nusra controlled city-center and buildings with multiple mortar shells and rockets, the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance have been unable to infiltrate into the downtown of Al-Zabadani.

However, the SAA’s 63rd Brigade was able to impose fire control over a road named after the deceased Egyptian president and hero of Arab nationalism, Jamal Abdel Nasser.

Furthermore, rebel forces inside the city have begun accusing the LAF (Lebanese armed forces} of {directly/indirectly} aiding Hezbollah in the offensive after they reported of French ammo casings, used primarily by the LAF inside of Lebanon.
