Larijani: Tragedy of Palestine, Proof of West’s Hegemony

Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said the sad tragedy of the oppressed Palestinian nation is another evidence of the dark crimes committed by the West in recent centuries, IRNA reports.

Addressing the Friday Prayers ceremonies here on Friday, the speaker commented on the occasion of the International Quds Day (last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan which is designated by the Founder of the Islamic Revolution late Imam Khomeini).

He said the scheme to set up a Zionist regime in the Middle East was a plot which was hatched by the Western countries and accounts for another shameful evidence in their dark record.

Turning to the ongoing nuclear negotiations between Iran and the 5+1, Larijani said that getting the talks to a no-return point will not be to the US interests.

Referring to the remarks made Thursday night by the US Secretary of State John Kerry, the Majlis speaker said the Iranian team of the nuclear negotiators is certainly comprised of well-intending people ‘but they are not naïve. Leading the nuclear talks to a dead end would never benefit Americans.’

‘Perhaps the US officials are claiming that talks are progressing but could not be prolonged forever in order to get more concessions but they should realize that things are quite transparent since the Iranian negotiators could easily distinguish different issues,’ Larijani added.

He stressed that the ongoing nuclear talks is a ‘battlefield’ that the Western powers had sought for so ‘if the talks fail it is you who are to be blamed for making a strategic mistake despite Iran’s flexible policy.’

‘The outcomes (of the failure of the talks) will not be to your favor either as an army of dynamic and active experts in the nuclear areas are here absolutely ready to resume nuclear activities in a higher speed,’ Larijani stressed.

He added after three years of time-burning negotiations making such remarks by the US Secretary of State was ‘an irresponsible gesture which lacked rational justifications.’

Larijani said that the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution was never against negotiations with the US but cautioned about the deceitful nature of the US.

The Speaker noted the parliament too is closely monitoring the procedure of the talks.

He said the Supreme Leader was leading the process of ‘negotiations by his vigilant and intelligent guidelines and all branches of power in the country are backing the talks.’

He hoped a final nuclear deal will be to the benefit of the nation.
