President Rouhani says Iran nuclear conclusion benefits entire region
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani says the conclusion of nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries will benefit the entire region.
“We have no doubt that this agreement will benefit the Iranian nation and help regional security and prosperity equally,” Rouhani said during a telephone conversation with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani on Saturday.
Rouhani said the conclusion of the nuclear talks showed that regional issues as well as differences among countries should be settled through diplomacy.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian president said the Islamic Republic is ready to exchange views with its friends in the region, including Qatar, to contribute to the restoration of stability and security in the region.
“Prosperity and development of regional countries depend on maintaining security [in the region] and we should all join hands to stop activities of terrorist and Takfiri groups,” Rouhani added.
He said Iran expects Qatar to redouble its efforts to help defuse tensions and maintain stability in the region.
The Qatari emir, for his part, welcomed the nuclear conclusion, saying that it can contribute to the settlement of conflicts in the region.
He also lauded Iran’s role in the region in resolving conflicts and said cooperation among regional countries can uproot terrorism.
Rouhani also held a separate telephone conversation with Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain on Saturday, during which he described the Tehran-Islamabad relationship as deep-rooted and very friendly and welcomed further promotion of bilateral ties in all sectors.
The Pakistani president, for his part, welcomed the breakthrough in Iran’s nuclear talks, saying it serves the interests of Iran and Pakistan as well as the entire region.
