Yemenis hold rallies, slam zionist Saudi aggression

11 August 2015 18:35

Thousands of angry protesters pack the streets of the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, to condemn the Saudi aggression against their country.

People gathered on Matar Street in Sana’a on Tuesday for a protest entitled, Rejection of colonial project, its crimes and siege.

The protest, which was planned by the popular committees of the Houthi Ansarullah movement, saw people chanting slogans against Saudi Arabia, the United States and the Israel regime.

The protesters also voiced anger at global inaction on the Saudi aggression against Yemen, saying international organizations have a responsibility to protect Yemenis from the attacks.

Demonstrators also expressed their full support for Ansarullah in its retaliatory attacks against the Saudi targets and urged the movement’s leadership to use its “strategic options” in the face of the Saudi aggression.

The demonstration ended with the participants adopting a final statement in which they reiterated that the Saudi siege on their country will not deter the Yemenis in their steadfastness and resilience against the aggression. The statement also called for an international investigation into the crimes that the Saudis and their allies have committed in their all-out war on Yemen over the past four months.

Since March 26, Riyadh has been pounding various areas in Yemen – without a UN mandate. The Saudi military aggression is meant to undermine Houthi fighters and restore power to Yemen’s fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a staunch ally of the Riyadh regime.

According to the United Nations, the war on Yemen has killed over 4,000 people, nearly half of them civilians, since late March. Local Yemeni sources, however, put the fatality figure at a much higher number.
