Zahhar: Hamas boosting drone production
Hamas has reached advanced stages in the production of multi-functional drones, senior Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Zahhar told al-Jazeera.
Zahhar said: “Right before the Israeli offensive on Gaza, we revealed pieces of news on the group’s development of rockets; but the distance that they can reach and their destructive power remained a secret.”
Earlier on Wednesday, Hamas’s armed wing, al-Qassam Brigades, said they have taken control of an Israeli drone and put it back into use.
Zahhar said the Palestinian resistance is the one that ousted the Israeli occupation army from the Gaza Strip, adding that Hamas has become a serious competitor in the technical war against the Israeli occupation.
“The development of our resistance arsenal allows the opportunity for capturing more Israeli soldiers and gives the group the possibility to strike more prisoner swap deals,” he added.
“Mahmoud Abbas knows very well that he will be defeated in any upcoming elections because the Palestinian people will opt for the resistance’s agenda,” he said.
According to Zahhar, Abbas and his government have been standing as a stumbling block before the Gaza reconstruction process.
“Reconciliation can never see the day between a party that resists the Israeli occupation and another that cooperates with it,” he further stated.
