Syrian Army Retakes Raweesah Al-Jourah in Lattakia, Kills 7 Terrorists

Informed sources in the coastal province of Lattakia said that the Syrian army stormed the rebel groups’ strongholds in the nearby areas of Raweesah al-Jourah and seized full control over the hilltop with the same name, FNA reports.

The sources said that the Syrian Army, the National Defense Forces (NDF) and the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) resumed their assault on the rebel’s defensive positions at the Raweesah Al-Jourah hilltop, capturing this site following a brief, but violent clash with the militant forces to the Southwest of Jubb Al-Ahmar.

Al-Nusra Front and their allies from the Free Syrian Army’s “Coastal Brigades” and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham sustained heavy losses, including seven killed members, in the Syrian army’s operations.

With the continuation of their offensive in Northeast Lattakia, the Syrian Armed Forces will attempt to zero-in on the remaining hills of Jubb Al-Ahmar in order to reposition themselves to attack the Western flank of Al-Sirmaniyah – a town located 2 km South of Jisr Al-Shughour.

The Syrian Army’s Central Command asserted that the suspension of yesterday’s assault in Northeast Lattakia was due to heavy fog, which resulted in the grounding of the Syrian Air Force – without air cover, the soldiers were ordered not to advance.
