Kyrgyz president due in Iran for talks
Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev will pay an official visit to the Iranian capital of Tehran next week to hold talks with the country’s senior authorities.
Atambayev is to travel to Tehran at the head of a high-ranking politico-economic delegation at the official invitation of Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani, the Iranian ambassador to Bishkek Ali Najafi told IRNA on Saturday.
During his three-day stay in Tehran, the Kyrgyz president is slated to exchange views with his Iranian counterpart and other top officials on ways to further improve mutual ties, the envoy added.
He noted that Iran and Kyrgyzstan will also sign documents to strengthen cooperation in different sectors.
“Atambayev’s trip will be his first visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran in 10 years,” Najafi said.
