7 September 2015 17:40

The Syrian forces gained the upper-hand against the Takfiri terrorists in Deir Ezzur in Eastern Syria by purging more militants from key regions in the Eastern province.

The Takfiri terrorists withdrew from al-Teem oil wells and other strategic areas in the Eastern parts of Deir Ezzur after facing the resistance of the Syrian forces comprising army, tribal and national defense forces.

The Syrian warplanes, meantime, hit the gathering centers of the ISIL militants in Havijeh Sakr district in the Southeastern parts of Deir Ezzur city.

Tens of ISIL terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured in heavy clashes with the government and popular forces.

Deir Ezzur is an oil-rich province and ISIL is in control of some regions in the Deir Ezzur city.

On Sunday, the Syrian ground force and choppers defended government positions in al-Jubeileh and al-Sina districts in Deir Ezzur East of Syria, killing at least 33 ISIL militants and wounding several others, sources said.

The sources said that the ISIL terrorists began their assault at the al-Jubeileh district, when one of the combatants drove his vehicle borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) into the al-Fardous Mosque, which resulted in the complete destruction of the building, along with the death of a dozen civilians.
