15 September 2015 19:46

At least 13 civilians have been killed in mortar attacks by foreign-sponsored Takfiri militants against residential areas in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo.

A Syrian police source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said on Tuesday that at least three people lost their lives after rocket shells fired by the terrorists positioned in the al-Rashedeen neighborhood, hit the residential neighborhoods in the Hamadaniya area in the city, Syria’s official news agency SANA reported.

It was also reported that at least 87 other people sustained injuries in the attacks and some of them are in critical condition.

In a separate militant attack in the city, rocket shells fired by the terrorists landed in the A’azamiya and Salah al-Din neighborhoods, killing three people and injuring 32 others, including women and children.

Another bomb in Hasaka

In a separate development in the crisis-hit country, at least seven civilians were killed while 21 others suffered injuries in a terrorist car bomb explosion in the northeastern city of Hasaka.

A source at the Hasaka Police Command said the incident took place after a truck loaded with huge amounts of explosives detonated in front of the Water Resources building in the Ma’aishia neighborhood on the northwestern side of the city.

Cities and towns across Syria have been witnessing bomb attacks as well as mortar and rocket fire by Takfiri terrorists since a deadly foreign-backed conflict broke out in the Arab country more than four years ago.

On September 11, eleven people, mostly civilians, lost their lives and 20 others sustained injuries when militant mortar shells hit the Duwaila neighborhood of the capital, Damascus.

On August 24, nine people were injured in a militant mortar attack on the al-Mogambo neighborhood in Aleppo.

The conflict in Syria, which started in March 2011, has reportedly claimed more than 240,000 lives up until now.

The violence has also forced over 3.8 million Syrians to take refuge in neighboring countries, including Jordan and Lebanon. More than 7.2 million others have been displaced within Syria, according to the United Nations.
