Syrian Army Seizes Full Control over Harasta Hills in East Ghouta
Informed sources said that the Syrian forces stormed the militants’ positions and advanced from the village of Al-Kassarat towards the hills overlooking the contested town of Harasta inside the East Ghouta (collection of farms) area of Damascus.
The sources said that following a series of fierce firefights with the militants, the Syrian Armed Forces reportedly captured the hills overlooking Harasta after killing 17 enemy combatants.
Earlier this month, sources said that the Syrian ground and air forces repelled militants’ assaults on Harasta town, and inflicted heavy casualties on the terrorists.
The sources said that the Jeish Al-Islam and al-Nusra Front militants launched massive operations to capture the Harasta town, but were confronted with resistance of the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Palestine Liberation Army (Palestinian branch of the Syrian Arab Army).
