Phase II of Zabadani, Kafraya, Fuaa Ceasefire Commences in Syria

30 September 2015 22:40

Phase II of the 6 month long ceasefire agreement between the Syrian Army-Hezbollah forces and Jeish Al-Fateh militant group has just begun, as a dozen medical vehicles enter Fuaa and Kafraya in order to transport the wounded civilians to the Lattakia governorate for further medical assistance.

Prior to the transport of these wounded civilians in Fuaa and Kafraya, the Syrian Armed Forces and Jeish Al-Fateh successfully completed Phase I of the ceasefire agreement; this required the Syrian government to provide transportation for the wounded militants of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, the Free Syrian Army (FSA), and the al-Qaeda-affiliated group of al-Nusra Front from Zabadani region.

Previous ceasefires in Zabadani, Fuaa and Kafraya, had held only briefly.

Hezbollah and Syrian forces have tightened the noose around terrorists in Zabadani and Idlib province. The operation began in early July and is seen as an attempt to bolster control of land routes between Lebanon and Syria and sever rebel supply lines.

Zabadani is located 50 kilometers Northwest of Damascus and 12 kilometers Northeast of Lebanon’s Masnaa border crossing.
