Afghanistan Eyes Iran’s Help to Rebuild War-Torn Country
Afghanistan’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdul Razaq Vahidi on Monday said Kabul seeks Iran’s help and support to reconstruct the war-stricken country.
In a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Vaezi here in Tehran, Vahidi hailed the Islamic Republic’s unwavering support for Afghanistan and said, “We hope to be able to tap into Iran’s potential for rebuilding Afghanistan.”
He further said the general policy of the Afghan national unity government is to promote regional and international cooperation.
Pointing to the long-lasting relations between Iran and Afghanistan in different fields, the Afghan minister said Tehran and Kabul should take further steps to increase their cooperation in the field of information and communications technology (ICT).
Earlier this year, Iran and Afghanistan signed two cooperation agreements as part of efforts to boost the relations between the two neighbors.
In a ceremony in April, attended by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Afghan counterpart Ashraf Ghani, high-ranking officials from the two countries singed the documents.
