URGENT: Syrian Army, Hezbollah Seize Back More Lands South of Aleppo Province
The Syrian Army’s 4th Mechanized Division in Tal Al-‘Eiss, the Syrian Armed Forces, Hezbollah, and the Iraqi paramilitaries imposed full control over the village of Khalsah after a series of intense firefights with the militants Ahrar Al-Sham, Al-Nusra Front, Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki and Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham this morning.
With Khalsah officially under the Syrian Armed Forces control, the terrorist groups are now one village away from having all of their recent gains in Southern Aleppo reversed by the pro-government forces; this means that if Burnah is captured, the militants will have lost every village they seized two weeks ago.
Currently, the Syrian army’s 4th Mechanized Division and Hezbollah have seized 70 percent of Burnah from Ahrar Al-Sham and Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham, leaving only the Western sector of the village under the latter’s control.
A report said earlier today that the Syrian army sent additional troops to the Syrian government stronghold of Al-Safira in Aleppo province in preparation for large-scale attacks against the terrorists.
Sources said that approximately 1,100 additional soldiers from the Syrian Army’s 4th Mechanized Division arrived to Al-Safira in order to intensify their military operations near the strategic towns of Al-Hadher and Tal Al-‘Eiss in the Southern part of Aleppo province.
According to the military reports, the Syrian Army’s 46th Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division (formerly at Al-Zabadani) left their coastal headquarters in the town of Ras Al-Bassit (Northwest Lattakia) after receiving orders from the Syrian army’s Central Command to redeploy to Southern Aleppo.
With the recent arrival of the Syrian Army’s 46th Brigade on Saturday, the prestigious 4th Mechanized Division currently has 3 brigades operating in Southern Aleppo: 46th, 82nd (based in Aleppo), and 155th (formerly in Al-Hasakah) Brigades; these military units are all under the command of General Maher Al-Assad.
Considered by many in the Central Command as the most elite infantry soldiers in the Syrian Army, the 4th Mechanized Division was formed by Major General ‘Ali Haidar in 1984 after the disbandment of the Defense Companies (Saraya Al-Dafa’a); this division has been under the command of both Bassil (1987-1994) and Bashar Al-Assad (1994-1998) before being delegated to Maher Al-Assad.
Currently, the Syrian army troops, backed by Hezbollah and Iraqi paramilitary units, are on the offensive in Southern Aleppo after repelling Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham’s counter-offensive last week.
