Islamic Jihad: Ready for any other form of anti-occupation uprising
There is a national consensus over the need to keep the Jerusalem Intifada going on, Islamic Jihad leader Khaled al-Batsh told the PIC.
According to Batesh, several anti-occupation activists affiliated with various national resistance factions have had their lives taken away in the ongoing Jerusalem Uprising.
“We are ready for any other form of resistance if the uprising necessitates so,” he added in an interview with the PIC.
The activist warned of an explosion to rock blockaded Gaza due to the tough Israeli siege and the closed border crossings.
In another context, Batesh urged the Palestinian Authority Chairman, Mahmoud Abbas, to convene a meeting for the Palestine Liberation Organization’s (PLO) temporary leadership, which groups leaders of all Palestinian factions and forces, as the fastest way to boost the reconciliation path.
“It is not difficult to have such a PLO meeting convened. It might take place in any Arab country. If not, there is enough room in Gaza,” he said.
He spoke out against Egypt’s closure of the Rafah crossing, calling on the unity government to take up its responsibility as regards the affair.
