Israelis celebrated 9/11 attacks, not Muslims: Investigative journalist

15 December 2015 22:00

Israelis in the US state of New Jersey celebrated the September 11, 2001 terror attacks, not Muslims, as falsely claimed by US Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, an investigative journalist in Florida says.

Trump must “revise his comments about witnessing thousands of Muslims celebrating in New Jersey on 9/11,” said Wayne Madsen, who is also an author and columnist specializing in intelligence and international affairs.

“There were people celebrating the attacks on the twin towers in New Jersey but they were Israelis, some of whom were members of the Mossad intelligence agency,” Madsen said during a phone interview with Press TV on Tuesday.

“In some cases they were dressed as Arabs to give the notion that it was Arabs celebrating the attacks,” he added.

Madsen welcomed Trump’s recent remarks implying that Israel is supporting the Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group by “sending massive amounts of money” to the group in Syria and Iraq.

Trump made the remarks in a recent interview with the Morning Joe show on MSNBC, shortly before he cancelled his trip to Israel.

“Some of our so-called allies that we work with and that we protect militarily, they are sending massive amounts of money to ISIS and to al-Qaeda and to others,” he said, using an alternative acronym for the terrorist group.

Asked about who he was talking about, Trump said “you know who it is. What do I have to bring it up for? You know who it is.”

He said that he will not mention US allies that support Daesh because of his relationship with those states, but noted that no one talks about them, even though everyone is aware of their support for ISIL.
