Over 25 Spanish municipalities, counties boycott Israel
Over 25 local municipalities and regional governments in the Spanish State, including in Catalonia and Basque regions, have endorsed boycott resolutions over Israel.
This came in a recent press release issued by the Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC), which coordinates the activities of the global movement for a campaign of “Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions” (BDS) against Israel.
General coordinator of the committee Mahmoud Nawa’jah said that these resolutions took place in response to the initiative, “Places without Racism,” which the BNC launched with the aim of isolating the occupation state, its municipal councils and institutions.
Nawa’jah explained that the Spanish municipalities and regional governments decided to academically boycott Israel’s universities, institutes and research centers, stressing its importance as a step towards comprehensively isolating the occupation.
