Muslim unity pivotal to tackling challenges: Iran’s Larijani
Iran’s Parliament (Majlis) Speaker Ali Larijani says the promotion of cooperation and reinforcement of unity are the only ways to counter threats and tackle challenges facing the Muslim nations.
Larijani made the remarks in a Saturday message to parliament speakers of Muslim countries on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
He also stressed the importance of strengthening “moderate and rational Islamic intellectual movements” to counter threats against Muslim nations.
He said Muslim nations currently need to bolster cordial relations and avoid rifts more than ever.
The Iranian Majlis speaker emphasized that terrorists should not be allowed to depict a false image of Islam.
“The Muslim world needs a common and multifaceted strategy to solve the existing problems and fight terrorism,” Larijani said.
He added that leaders and intellectuals of Muslim countries, including parliament members, shoulder a heavy responsibility in this regard.
He also called for constant consultation and cooperation among parliaments of Muslim states.
