Qantar embodied spirit of resistance, sacrifice: Sayyed Nasrallah
The secretary general of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah says Samir Qantar, a high-ranking Hezbollah member who was recently killed by the Israeli regime, represented the spirit of resistance and sacrifice.
Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah made the remarks during a speech marking the seventh day since the assassination of Qantar. The Hezbollah leader congratulated Muslims on the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad and Jesus Christ.
Qantar was killed during an Israeli raid which targeted his home near the Syrian capital, Damascus, on December 20. The airstrike also killed 10 Syrian nationals and injured a number of other civilians.
He had been released from an Israeli prison during a prisoner swap between the Lebanese resistance movement and Israel in 2008 after serving 29 years in detention.
Nasrallah said the acts of sacrifice Qantar carried out to serve the cause of resistance against the Israeli occupation would end either in martyrdom or imprisonment.
The Hezbollah chief described Qantar as the dean of all the prisoners in Israeli jails.
