Fighting Rages in Damascus amid Artillery Attacks

The Syrian army engaged in fierce clashes with the Takfiri militants in Damascus province, sources said Thursday, adding the terrorists’ positions were also hit by artillery shells.

The Syrian army engaged in fierce battle with militants in Jobar district, East of Damascus as the Syrian troops fired artillery shells at terrorists’ positions.

The Syrian army also fired artillery shells at militants’ positions in Douma city and the towns of al-Nashabiyah and Ein Tarma in Damascus countryside.

Meanwhile, the Syrian warplanes targeted militants’ concentration centers in Darayya city in Damascus province.

The Syrian airstrikes also hit Jeish al-Islam positions in Douma city in Eastern Ghouta in Damascus countryside.

On Wednesday, the Syrian army has been pounding terrorists’ positions in Damascus province through aerial bombing and artillery units, inflicting heavy losses on the militants, military sources said.

The Syrian warplanes bombed terrorists’ positions in the cities of Darayya and Douma in Damascus province on Wednesday.

The Syrian army also fired artillery shells at terrorists in the town of Irbin in Damascus countryside.

Also on Wednesday, the Joint operations of the Syrian Army against the militant groups’ defense lines in the Eastern part of Damascus province ended in the recapture of a number of farms and a chunk of a main road.

“The Syrian army and the National Defense Forces (NDF) stormed the militant positions and drove them back from several farms in Eastern Ghouta and a chunk of the road connecting Marj al-Sultan village and al-Nashabiyah town,” military officials said.

“Over 12 Takfiri militants were killed or wounded and their military vehicles sustained heavy damage in the attacks,” the sources added.

Militant groups’ positions in different parts of Damascus province have been under the massive attacks of the Syrian army, air force, and artillery units in the recent weeks.

On Monday, the Syrian army’s ground force, fighter jets and artillery units staged a large-scale attack on the militant groups’ positions in Eastern and Western Ghouta, inflicting heavy losses on the militants.

“The Syrian army’s artillery units shelled the militant groups’ defense lines in Jobar in Eastern Ghouta, destroying the terrorists’ defense lines and killing or wounding large groups militants,” the army said.

“Minutes after the shelling of the terrorists’ centers in Jobar, the Syrian army and popular forces stormed the shelled positions and killed or wounded the remaining terrorists,” the army added.

The Syrian fighter jets, meantime, carried out several combat sorties over the militant groups’ military sites near Darayya in Western Ghouta, and bombed them heavily, the army added.
