Iraqi Forces Go on Alert to Win Back Fallujah

31 December 2015 8:43

The Iraqi armed forces are on alert now to take part in operations to seize back the city of Fallujah after they regained full control over the city of Ramadi, informed sources announced.
“The Iraqi security forces have now been stationed to the South of the city; these forces are under the command of Baghdad operations and the rapid reaction police forces while the volunteer and tribal forces will also take part in the operations,” Arab media outlets quoted Fallujah Governor Sa’adoun Obeid as saying on Wednesday.

He reiterated that clashes are currently underway on the outskirts of the city.

Iraqi troops are preparing for major assaults on the ISIL after they raised their national flag in downtown Ramadi and liberated the city from the Takfiri militants.

The Iraqi armed forces started massive attacks on the ISIL last week to take back Ramadi.

The city of Ramadi is located 110 kilometers to the West of Baghdad.

On November 14, the Iraqi army and air force managed to push back the ISIL Takfiri terrorists from two strategic areas in the city of Fallujah in Anbar province on Saturday.

The regions of Albu Manahi and Albu Daij in Fallujah’s Ameriya region were seized backed.

The operations to take control of the Albu Manahi and Albu Daij districts were jointly conducted by the 8th Division of the Iraqi Army and with the backup of the Iraqi air force.
