Senior cleric urges world Muslims to condemn execution of prominent Saudi cleric

2 January 2016 14:39

Grand Ayatollah Hossein Nouri Hamedani on Saturday strongly condemned execution of prominent Saudi Shia cleric Nimr al-Nimr along with some 46 other people in Saudi Arabia and called on world Muslims to show a tough reaction to such an illogical move.

Speaking to officials in charge of Qom prayers headquarters, he said it is very regrettable that the Saudi regime has executed the prominent Shia cleric despite warnings given by Ulemas in Iran, Iraq and other Muslim countries, describing the execution as an example of autocracy.
The Saudi regime is now serving the US and Zionist regime, he said, adding that Saudi Arabia has defamed Islam through promotion of superstitious school of taught.
They have created Daesh and Boko Haram to show a tough image of Islam, he said.
Both Shia and Sunni Muslims should jointly condemn and strongly react to the execution of the prominent Saudi cleric, he said.
The execution is regarded as an insult to all Muslims and Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq and Lebanon, he said and advised all Muslims to exercise vigilance under such sensitive circumstances.
