Syrian Army captures several farms in East Ghouta region of rural Damascus

5 January 2016 7:23

Syrian Arab Army’s 102nd Brigade and the 416th Regiment of the Republican Guard – in close coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Damascus City – launched an assault on the eastern farms of Marj Al-Sultan, resulting in their subsequent entry into the small village of Al-Bilaliyah in the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus.

According to a military source based in rural Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army’s 102nd Brigade and the 416th Regiment are in full control of the western poultry farms in Al-Bilaliyah; however, there is still extensive fighting needed before they can declare the entire village under their complete control.

Recently, the Syrian Armed Forces’ Central Command has shifted their attention to the eastern and western flanks of Marj Al-Sultan; likely due to their need for building a substantial buffer-zone around the military airfields and the village itself.
