Syrian Tiger Forces overwhelm ISIS and recapture several hilltops near Khanasser

24 February 2016 18:46

The recent arrival of the Syrian Army’s Tiger Forces to the Khanasser front in southeastern Aleppo has been a blessing in disguise for the Syrian government, thanks in large part to their swift advances and commitment to eliminating the threat posed by the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) along the Khanasser-Aleppo Road.

On Wednesday, the Tiger Forces – backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF), Liwaa Al-Quds (Jerusalem Brigade), and the Cheetah Forces “Team 3” – imposed full control over the large hilltop of Tal Za’rour near the village of Jabeen after a violent battle with the ISIS terrorists that were entrenched along this imperative front. Following the capture of Tal Za’rour, the Tiger Forces and their allies advanced deep in the heart of the ISIS’ front-lines, seizing several small hilltops near the strategic city of Khanasser in the Hama Governorate’s northeastern countryside.

Meanwhile, inside Khanasser, the Tiger Forces and their allies have reached the central district after entering the city earlier this morning; this battle is currently the focal point of the government counter-offensive that was launched yesterday afternoon.

For ISIS, this counter-offensive by the Tiger Forces has been disastrous for the terrorist group, as they have lost dozens of fighters over the last 24 hours. Images from the Khanasser battle depict just how bad the situation is for the ISIS terrorists that are defending the city from the advancing government forces nearby.
