Syrian Army Repulses ISIL Aggression near Deir Ezzur Airbase
The Syrian army troops and their popular allies inflicted tens of casualties on invading ISIL militants after their positions in the Eastern parts of Deir Ezzur airbase came under attack by the terrorist group, sources said on Thursday.
According to provincial sources, the ISIL used different types of light and heavy weapons in their offensive launched from the Eastern parts of Deir Ezzur airbase and al-Sarda Mountain.
Concurrently, the Syrian army used artillery fire to target the ISIL gathering centers in the region which killed and wounded dozens of Takfiri terrorists.
Also on Wednesday, the Syrian army ambushed a group of ISIL terrorists in one of the neighborhoods of Deir Ezzur city, and inflicted a heavy death toll on the militants.
A group of the ISIL terrorists, who tried hard to infiltrate from al-Maqaber region into al-Rasafeh neighborhood to attack the army’s concentration centers, were trapped in a circle of the Syrian government forces and sustained heavy casualties in the clash.
Earlier reports said that the Syrian aircraft, in a fresh round of combat flights, targeted the ISIL strongholds in the Eastern part of Deir Ezzur province, inflicting major damage on the terrorists’ military equipment.
The Syrian fighter jets struck the ISIL gathering centers and lines of defense near Beit Dogheim and al-Jafra, which ended in the killing or wounding of several militants and destroyed a number of their machinegun-equipped vehicles.
