Volunteer Forces Commander: ISIL Using Iraqi Children, Women as Human Shield

5 March 2016 9:54

A senior Iraqi volunteer forces (Hashd al-Shaabi) commander underlined that the ISIL terrorist group has launched large-scale campaign in Iraq to capture all civilians to use them as human shield as the government and popular troops are making remarkable advances in the Arab country.

“The present tactic used by the ISIL terrorists is using the civilians, specially women and children, as human shields across Iraq,” Hassan al-Sari told FNA on Friday.

He underlined the need for rescuing the civilians from the ISIL’s yoke.

In relevant remarks in December, an Iraqi activist said that the ISIL terrorists were using children as human shields to protect themselves from the continuous Iraqi army and popular forces’ attacks in Makhoul and Shirqat regions in Salahuddin province.

“The terrorist groups have recently stationed 150 under-15 children, a number of them disabled, as human shields at crossroads and certain important and sensitive positions of Makhoul in Salahuddin province and Shirqat near Nineveh province,” Safa al-Tamimi, a spokesman of Saraya al-Salam group affiliated to the Sadr movement, said.

“This clearly shows that the terrorist groups have resorted to using children and the disabled after sustaining heavy casualties in the Iraqi security and popular forces’ attacks, which shows ISIL’s weakness and vulnerability and is a failure for the terrorist group,” he added.

The recent victories of the Iraqi army and popular forces against the ISIL in various parts of Iraq, including Salahuddin, Anbar and Nineveh provinces, have incited the terrorists to intensify their blind attacks on the civilian targets.
