Syrian Army, Allies Advancing Towards Aleppo-Raqqa Border
“The Syrian army, Liwa al-Quds (Jerusalem Brigade), the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Kataebat al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions have secured the Southern bank of Al-Hamourat Lake in Southeastern Aleppo, while also making a substantial advance towards al-Maskanah Plain,” the sources said.
“Al-Maskanah Plain is located along the Western bank of the Euphrates River (Lake Assad part), near the Jirah Military Airport and the Tabaqa Dam and Military Airport,” the sources added.
“The area around Lake Assad is deeply entrenched with ISIL fighters and it has barely been threatened by any force in the last two years – so the Syrian Armed Forces will have their hands full,” they said.
On Thursday, one of the main headquarters of the ISIL terrorist group was captured by the Syrian army and popular forces in the Northern province of Aleppo.
Durahim hill was one of the biggest military bases of the ISIL in the Northeastern parts of Khanasser town whose full control was won back by the Syrian forces.
Before the achievement, the Syrian army, volunteer troops and Hezbollah managed to retake full control of five villages near the town of Khanasser in Aleppo.
The Syrian army continued its advances in the Northern province by taking back the villages of Zabad, Touba, al-A’la, al-Hayat al-Saqira and al-Hayat al-Kabira in the Northeastern parts of the strategic town of Khanasser.
Tens of ISIL militants were killed and wounded during the operations and their vehicles and weapons were destroyed.
