Yemen Ceasefire April 10, Peace Talks April 18: UN
A ceasefire will take hold across Yemen on April 10 and just over a week later there will be another round of peace talks in Kuwait, the special UN envoy said Wednesday.
“The parties to the conflict have agreed to a nationwide cessation of hostilities beginning April 10 at midnight in advance of the upcoming round of the peace talks, which will take place on April 18 in Kuwait,” Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed told a press conference in New York.
Yemen has been since March 26, 2015 under brutal aggression by Saudi-led coalition.
Dozens of thousands have been martyred and injured in the attack, with the vast majority of them are civilians.
Riyadh launched the attack on Yemen in a bid to restore power to fugitive president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi who is a close ally to Saudi Arabia.
However, Yemeni army, backed by the committees has been engaged in battles with Saudi-led mercenaries and Hadi’s militias in several areas across the country.
