Breaking: Government, Kurdish leadership declare truce in Qamishli
Syrian government and People’s Protection Units (YPG) have agreed to an open-ended truce that will end the violence inside the city of Qamishli. As part of the open-ended truce, both sides will have to release the prisoners taken and withdraw from the new areas they captured during this brief conflict.
Initially, the Kurdish leadership was reluctant to make peace with the government forces in Qamishli; however, after several hours of negotiation, both sides agreed to terms. This recent conflict in Qamishli marks the bloodiest series of clashes to take place inside the city since the inception of this war.
