Syria: Gov’t Forces Launch 2nd Phase of Joint Anti-Terrorism Operation in Damascus

30 April 2016 10:28

The Syrian Army troops and its popular allies stormed the strongholds of al-Nusra Front and Jeish al-Islam terrorist groups in Eastern Ghouta and pushed the militants back from more positions there.

The Syrian soldiers, the Lebanese Hezbollah Resistance Movement’s fighters and the National Defense Forces (NDF) targeted the terrorists’ concentration centers in the village of al-Ruqabiyeh and captured its Southern part after launching their assault from the nearby villages of Sheba’a and Hatite al-Turkman.

Capturing of al-Ruqabiyeh will properly position the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah for the imminent Deir al-Assifir offensive.

In relevant developments in the province on Wednesday, the Syrian soldiers and the National Defense Forces’ joint heavy offensives pushed the terrorist groups back from more positions in the Northeastern part of Damascus province and took control of an important military base in the region.

The Syrian government forces continued their advances against the Takfiri terrorists near Dumeir airbase and captured Badr Brigade Base after hours of non-stop battle with the militants.

The terrorist groups left behind tens of the dead and wounded members and pulled back the remaining pockets of their forces from the battlefield in order to find safer shelters.

The Syrian army and the NDF stormed the terrorists’ strongholds from the Southern side of Dumeir airbase and took control over several checkpoints before reaching to the Northern side of Bader Brigade Base.
