S300 would serve purely ‘defensive ends’

Brig. Gen. Hossein Dehghan who was paying a visit to an exhibition of defensive equipment in Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base on Tuesday told reporters that the ministry had successfully incorporated new equipment to the grand scheme of air defense base to meet defensive needs of the system, and that S300 would serve the same system of defensive nature; “what we have developed so far make country self-sufficient in defense sector; our major products in discovery, surveillance, and tracking are indigenously developed; we have successfully manufactured defense, ordonnance, and missile systems in taking a step forward in a path of self-reliance,” he told the press.
“The indigenous defense system, also called Bavar-373, is capable of engaging in battle against cruise missile, UAV, fighter jet, and even ballistic missiles,” Dehghan added.
