Iraqi security forces fire artillery during clashes with Sunni militant group Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) on the outskirts of the town of Udaim in Diyala province, June 22, 2014. Iran's supreme leader accused the United States on Sunday of trying to retake control of Iraq by exploiting sectarian rivalries, as Sunni insurgents drove toward Baghdad from new strongholds along the Syrian border. The Iraqi Army’s 7th Division – backed by the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) – expelled the remaining Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) terrorists that were operating inside the Al-Heet District of Al-Anbar. While liberating the Al-Heet District, the Iraqi Armed Forces reportedly killed over 50 Islamic State terrorists, including a number of foreign combatants.

Earlier this week, ISIS was able to enter the Al-Heet District after overrunning the defenses of the local tribal fighters. Once ISIS seized several sites in the Al-Heet District, the Iraqi Armed Forces redeployed to this area in order to expel the terrorist combatants that were wrecking havoc on the local populous.
