Saudi-backed forces in mass panic as tribal fighters kick them out of Mareb
The Saudi-backed Hadi loyalists are fleeing the provincial capital of Mareb after the Al-‘Abidah tribesmen launched an attack against their forces this morning in northern Yemen. The Al-‘Abidah tribesmen began their assault by setting ablaze several military installations that belong to the Hadi loyalists. Following the initial attack by the Al-‘Abidah tribesmen, their allies from the Al-Jalal tribe joined them in their battle against the Saudi-backed forces.
Preliminary reports from Mareb indicate that the Saudi-backed forces have been expelled by the local tribesmen; however, no pictures or video footage has been released to corroborate these claims. If the Saudi-backed units lose Mareb city, they will be in serious trouble because they are currently on the defensive against the Houthi forces at the nearby Nihm District.
