British Shia Sunni scholars’ joint message in support of Sheikh Isa Qassim
British Shia and Sunni clerics, in a joint message, have voiced their support or prominent Bahraini scholar, Sheikh Isa Qassim, rejecting allegations against the religious leader, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
The message referred to Al Kalifa accusations against Shiekh Isa Qassim, based on illegal assets and supporting terrorism saying,” Many people in Bahrain and other countries, note Sheikh Isa Qassim as a religious leader who have spent years of his life for confrontation with extremism and sectarianism sparing no effort to boost national unity, democracy and proximity among different social movements.”
“Illegal measures by Bahraini government and its crackdown of the righteous demands of the citizens and stripping them of citizenship because of their religious beliefs are all manifests of corruption and dictatorship of the Arab kingdom and will certainly lead to sectarian clashes in the country” noted the clerics in another part of their message.
Shia and Sunni scholars stressed,” We, as the representatives of Shia and Sunni community in the UK, demand Bahraini government to maintain calmness and accepts the demands of protesters in and put an end to all dispersing policies.”
Religious figures in their message highlighted necessity of solidarity among Bahraini nation and demand world Muslims to call Bahraini government to stop the threatening policy.
The scholars also said that Bahraini government should maintain a just interaction with the Shia citizens and respects their citizenship rights so that the ways for dialogue remain open.
