Report: Saudi Coalition Factions in Row After Patriot Missile System Disappears in Yemen
“A Patriot missile system used by Saudi troops has disappeared in Ma’rib city and stirred harsh disputes among the Saudi-led coalition commanders and pro-Hadi militias in Ma’rib province,” the Arabic-language media quoted unnamed sources as saying on Tuesday.
The sources also disclosed that the Saudi fighter jets are flying at low altitude in Wadi Obeideh and some regions of Ma’rib and Shabwah provinces to find the platform.
Some Yemeni sources have voiced concern that the launchpad might have been stolen by al-Qaeda terrorists.
The Saudi army has stationed several Patriot missile systems in Ma’rib city.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Yemeni army missiles pounded the Saudi troops’ military positions in the kingdom’s Southwestern provinces, while Ansarullah fighters fended off the Saudi forces’ attacks in border regions in Northern Yemen.
“The Saudi military centers in Najran and Jizan provinces came under the Yemeni army’s missile attacks today,” Ansarullah Commander Abdullah al-Zeidi told FNA.
He also noted that the Yemeni forces repelled the Saudi army attacks on their military positions in border areas near Jizan and Najran provinces, and said, “The Yemeni army and popular forces fired tens of mortar rounds at al-Tala’a and al-Shabaka military sites in the Southern parts of Saudi Arabia.”
Al-Zeidi also said that Saudi Arabia’s newly-established site in al-Khoba of Jizan province also came under Yemen’s missile attack, killing and wounding several Saudi troops.
Also on Wednesday, the Yemeni military sources disclosed that the Saudi army is trying hard to prevent the Yemeni army and popular forces from making further advance deep into the kingdom.
The move by the Saudi army comes as the Yemeni forces have intensified their military operations against the Riyadh government troops in Jizan province of Saudi Arabia.
Also, the Yemeni army hit hard the Saudi troops’ gatherings in Khoba of Jizan province.
Meantime, Saudi whistle-blower Mujtahid, who is believed to be a member of or have a well-connected source in the royal family, disclosed that the Yemeni forces have made considerable military gains in Jizan province.
“The Yemeni army and popular forces entered 10 kilometers deep inside Jizan province on Wednesday and fierce clashes are underway near Sameta region,” Mujtahid said.
Also on Monday, the Yemeni army pounded a strategic military base in the kingdom’s Jizan province with home-made missiles.
Saudi Arabia’s al-Sababeh military base came under Yemen’s missile attacks, killing at least 20 Saudi soldiers.
The Yemeni popular forces, meantime, destroyed two armored vehicles of the Saudi army in Najran’s Rajla military base.
The Yemeni missile units pounded and destroyed a strategic Saudi military base in the kingdom’s Najran province on Monday.
The Saudis’ Rajla military base in Najran was destroyed by the Yemeni army’s home-made ballistic Zalzal-3 missile which was unveiled in July.
The attack also destroyed a number of tanks and military vehicles belonging to the Saudi forces, al-Masirah reported.
The Yemeni army has fired 13 ballistic missiles towards the Saudi military positions in Najran province since the beginning of July.
Last Saturday, the Yemeni Zelzal 3 missiles also pounded the Saudi Arabia’s Rajla military base in Najran province.
In late July, the Yemeni forces continued their attacks against the Saudi troops in the kingdom’s Southern parts, and killed several senior Saudi officers, including a top commander of the Saudi army’s 84th Division in the same area.
“The Yemeni army and popular forces fired missiles at Saudi tanks in Najran province, and killed the armored unit commander of the Saudi Army’s 84th Division who was also deputy commander of Rajla military base along with other senior Saudi forces,” the Arabic-language media outlets quoted an unnamed military source as saying.
Also last month, the Yemeni army, backed by popular forces, fired a ballistic missile at a Saudi military base in the kingdom’s Jizan province in retaliation for Riyadh’s relentless attacks on Yemen’s civilians.
The Yemeni Tochka missile precisely hit the Saudi military base in the kingdom’s Ahad al-Mosareheh region in Jizan province.
The Saudi forces sustained heavy losses and casualties in the Yemen missile strike.
