IRGC to stage massive military parade on 21 Sep.
The IRGC spokesman, Brig. Gen. Ramezan Sharif, said a massive armed forces parade will be staged in Bandar Abbas and Tehran concurrent with the Sacred Defense Week on 21 Sep.
Brigadier General Ramezan Sharif made the announcement on Wednesday, adding “the massive parade will be organized by the IRGC and the Navy headquarters with the participation of Ground troops, Navy and Air Corps of the Army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, as well as the police force, popular forces and Basij.”
He said the objective of the military parade in Bandar Abbas is to showcase the maritime authority and sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Persian Gulf and the deterrence capabilities and unity of the Armed Forces.
“The parade, for the very first time, will be staged in Tehran and Bandar Abbas simultaneously and its central slogan is “Yes We Can”,” he added.
Senior governmental and military officials will attend the ceremony and Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani will deliver a speech among the people of Hormozgan.
“The enemies of the Iranian nation must know that the Persian Gulf is our home, and we will spare no efforts in cooperating with other neighboring countries to strengthen security in this region,” he said.
“Staging military parades and drills in the strategic region of the Persian Gulf is in line with preserving and promoting the defense preparedness of our Navy and air defense units against threats of provocative presence of trans-regional powers, particularly American warships and their unprofessional moves,” he said.
