General Suleimani ends rumors about running for president
Major General Qassem Suleimani, the commander of Iran’s elite “Quds Force,” ended the speculation regarding his rumored plans to go into politics.
According to General Suleimani’s statement, he will remain a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for as long as he is able to serve.
The Iranian general added that he has no plans to go into politics, quashing the rumors about leaving the army for the presidency.
General Suleimani described media speculations about his plans to run in the upcoming presidential election as “divisive” reports by the enemies with the purpose of fomenting discord within the Iranian nation, the Tasnim News Agency reported on Thursday.
General Soleimani also made it clear that he will keep serving the Islamic Republic and the Iranian nation as a soldier until the last day of his life.
